UPDATE (8/14 7:19 AM | EST): Three are confirmed dead: Brazos County Constable Brian Bachmann, the alleged suspect that started the violence and a possible bystander. Other officers and a bystander were also injured in the shootout.

Bachmann was delivering an eviction notice around 12:12 p.m. at a residence in the 200 block of Fidelity Street near the Wellborn-George Bush Drive intersection. The suspect, Thomas “Tres” Caffall, opened fire on him. Police arrived on scene minutes later, and Caffall allegedly opened fire on them too. He was hit multiple times and later died of his wounds.


UPDATE (8/13 3:20PM | EST): From St. Joseph Hospital: “St. Joseph currently has one female patient from the scene. Her condition is undetermined at this time.”


UPDATE (8/13 2:29PM | EST): KBTX reports no confirmed fatalities, though several people including police officers were shot. The suspect was apprehended and the area is no longer a danger to the public.

The University issued a warning on Code Maroon just before 12:30 PM Monday warning of an active shooter and for residents and students to avoid the area. Later an update was issued stating the shooter was taken into custody, but warned residents and students to still avoid the area.


Original Post (8/13 1:20PM | EST): Code Maroon website reports the suspect taken into custody. Suspect was firing from his house with automatic weapons near Highland and Fidelity Streets in College Station. Scanner traffic indicates that at least two officers are down. No further details at this time.
