Yet seemingly the entire system is a corrupt, incompetent bureaucracy. After an incident in the Morro da Babilônia, they join BOPE. The lives of Capitain Nascimento, Neto and Matias are entwined along the next months, through a rigorous training regimen then in direct action against the rampant drug dealing cartels.
The Elite Squad is a 2007 Brazilian film directed by José Padilha. It is a semi-fictional account of BOPE (the Special Police Operations Squad) of the Rio de Janeiro Military Police; a paramilitary unit analogous to American SWAT teams. The film portrays an intense view of the rampant corruption throughout the systems in place to protect us, through the mindset of trained, merciless killers with an idealistic sense of justice.
