I’ve always enjoyed working with sculpture and 3D pieces. They just feel much more rewarding than anything I’ve created digitally. Of course the time and effort required are directly proportional to the feeling of accomplishment, and I can’t always make time. Some artists have taken 3D artwork to a whole new level by layering a series of 2D works (often incorporating transparency) over one another. Russ Mills is a digital artist who goes under by the alias “Byroglyphics“. His work focuses on portraiture and figures, both abstract and semi-realistic. He uses scanned imagery, often an initial drawing done by hand, which is brought into Photoshop for digital manipulation. He takes a huge variety of scanned textures, splatters and random elements which he uses to make photoshop brushes.
