2 billion pixel panorama image of Mount Everest

This interactive panorama image is a ridiculously large image. It’s also ridiculously captivating. I can’t believe how monumentally large that mountain is. Zooming in on the base camp tents at the center bottom of the image should give you a profound sense of scale. Mount Everest is the Earth’s highest mountain, with a peak at 8,848 metres (29,029 ft) above sea level. It is located in the Mahalangur section of the Himalayas. The international border between China and Nepal runs across the precise summit point.

So if you’ve felt the strain lately and the world just seems completely upside-down, remember there is always beauty out there to be found in a word, an action, a gesture.  Hopefully I can take from this … Continue reading

Photos from 100 years ago in New York City.

It’s always interesting to look at old photographs. Even though the quality doesn’t hold a candle to the modern ultra crisp HD images we can capture digitally, older photographs have such character. The people are fascinating as well. We can get a glimpse into the lives of ordinary Americans around the turn of the century. While some things never change, looking back on the culture of that time is incredible. There is such a vast difference in behavior and trends it makes me wonder if we could possibly … Continue reading

Photos from Iran depict a lush natural geography, not a war-torn desert.

In the West, we only ever seen footage of the war torn areas of the Middle East. If I was completely oblivious, I’d assume the area was nothing more than an oil and blood soaked desert with few people living in squalor. Yet here in Iran are some truly lush areas of wild, untamed nature. As much as I despise clichés, there is something to be said for not judging a book by its cover, our a country by its media coverage.
