Playing first-person shooters improves learning abilities and cognitive function

Research shows that playing first-person action games (particularly shooters) can improve brain function including cognitive abilities and learning skills. The Downside In the wake of mass shootings and violent outbursts, much research has been conducted on children who play violent video games or watch violent TV which demonstrates that they can become violent themselves. According to researchers at Indiana University, brain scans show that violent videogames can alter brain function in young men after only a week of play. Halo 4 release… Oh and its election day.

Halo 4 finally hit shelves today… Just like some people hit the polls. So get out there and vote, and pick up Halo 4 on your way home so that you can blow up aliens instead of wasting time waiting for the results to trickle in. E3 (2012) Trailers & Gameplay

Watch Dogs This game looks sick. A combination of hacking, crime and intrigue. The Last of Us I love post apocalypse games. Running around surviving amidst the detritus of a collapsed society seems plausible. I consider it to be training for my Z plan. Almost makes me want to buy a PS3… Almost. Halo 4 I love the Halo franchise. It was the first console game I got really into. I spent WAY too much time hunting for glitches and easter eggs. Also I cannot wait for more … Continue reading

Borderlands 2 Trailer

I loved the first game. At least on the initial playthrough. Replaying the whole game with some additional side quests wasn’t that great and I never even finished. Still, the customization and magnitude of the arsenal they gave you was so much fun. I especially loved playing Co-Op via LAN and wasted spent many hours slaughtering those cell-shaded, post-apocalyptic freaks. Can’t wait to play it.

MW3: Stealthy with the throwing knife

I had a discussion about various weapon combos in MW3 today with my co-workers. I’ve always been a stealth / sniper kinda guy and typically employ longer range assault rifles and sniper rifles on most maps. I also utilize the bouncing betty or claymore along with akimbo scorpions as my secondary. In addition, I am in love with the throwing knife. I don’t know why. It isn’t particularly effective in comparison to a grenade, but I must admit it is far more satisfying. Since I unlocked it I … Continue reading
